Dominion’s management has extensive experience in oil and gas exploration and production projects in Africa and the rest of the world. In particular, the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer have been engaged in African exploration projects over many years. The Directors’ leadership is supplemented by an extensive network of advisors and consultants.
Roger Cagle, Non-executive Chairman
Roger Cagle is the Executive Vice-President, Deputy CEO and CFO of SOCO International plc, an international oil and gas exploration and production company and a member of the London Stock Exchange's FTSE 250 Index.
He has been a member of the board of SOCO International since April 1997. He has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, including senior positions with Exxon Corporation and Superior Oil Company. He was formerly Chief Financial Officer of Snyder Oil Corporation’s international subsidiary, and of Conquest Exploration Company.
Michael Garland, Chief Executive Officer
Michael Garland is the former President and CEO of Maverick Oil & Gas Inc, a NASDAQ Bulletin Board-listed energy exploration business with assets in the southern United States. He is also a co-founder and former Commercial Director of Star Energy plc, a gas storage and power generation company traded on AIM at the London Stock Exchange.
His twenty years of experience in the oil and gas industry includes time as the Commercial Manager of Tullow Oil, a FTSE 250 international oil and gas exploration and production company.
Justin Dibb, Managing Director
Justin Dibb is a co-founder of the Group and was the Group's Commercial Director until July 2007. Prior to Dominion, he spent two years structuring minerals deals in Africa. He was also a former adviser with HSBC.
Rob Shepherd, Chief Financial Officer
Rob Shepherd is a former Executive Director with ABN AMRO bank, where he had nine years of experience in international financing, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Before this, he was a facilities engineer with Shell, working in field development projects for four years.
Dr Andrew Robinson, Director, Exploration & Production
Andrew Robinson, a co-founder of the Group, is a geologist with more than twenty years of experience in international oil and gas exploration, and has published more than thirty scientific papers in major international journals. He began his career with Shell and BP, joining JKX Oil & Gas as Chief Geologist and subsequently Ramco Oil & Gas as manager of their Azerbaijan assets. After leaving Ramco, he worked as a consultant for many companies before helping to found Dominion. In 1995, Andrew was awarded the William Smith Award by the Geological Society of London.
Kenneth Ambrecht, Non-executive Director
Kenneth Ambrecht is a corporate finance consultant with over 30 years of experience in capital markets. He was formerly a Managing Director of investment banking firm First Albany Capital and, prior to that, a Managing Director at Royal Bank of Canada, where he was the senior member of the bank’s High Yield Group Bond Business in New York. Before joining Royal Bank of Canada, he was with Gleacher and Co, where he specialised in raising funds in the US capital markets for offshore companies. Mr Ambrecht also spent 25 years with Lehman Brothers, where he was a Managing Director in Capital Markets. Ken is Chairman of Dominion's Remuneration Committee.
Justin Burley, Non-executive Director
Justin Burley is a Vice President and Senior Analyst with Plainfield Asset Management LLC, a Greenwich, Connecticut based investment adviser with more than $1.2 billion of capital under management. He is a former Director with ABN AMRO Bank in London where he was responsible for the European leveraged capital markets group. Prior to that he worked in a variety of roles with Barclays Capital in London and Bankers Trust in New York.
Daniel Yona, Non-executive Director
Daniel Yona is a former Member of the National Assembly of Tanzania. He served in the Government of Tanzania under President Benjamin Mkapa, serving as Minister of Finance from 1997 to 2000. He also served as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2000 until 2006. He retired from the government in 2006.
Roland Wessel, Non-executive Director
Roland Wessel is the Chief Executive of Star Energy plc, the gas storage company listed on the London Stock Exchange that he co-founded in 1999. Roland is a geology graduate with over thirty years of experience in the oil and gas industry. The majority of his career has been spent in the drilling services sector and he has undertaken managerial assignments in most of the active oil and gas regions in the world, including West and North Africa and the Middle East, North Sea and the Americas. Roland is Chairman of Dominion's Audit Committee.
Mike Thomas, Chief Operating Officer
Mike is a geologist with 32 years' experience in the oil and gas exploration business. He has worked for Texaco, AGIP, Clyde Petroleum, Gulf Canada and Paladin Resources. His period with Clyde included asset management and exploration of producing fields in the Netherlands, followed by exploration in Yemen. With Gulf Canada, he was Co-ordinator of International Joint Ventures and with Paladin, he was Asset Manager for several international projects, including Tanzania.
Robert Spence, General Manager, Dominion Tanzania Limited and Dominion Oil and Gas Limited
Robert has thirty years' experience of the geophysical exploration business. He has lived in Tanzania for ten years where he has worked for and represented oil companies, such as Dublin Petroleum and Paladin Resources. He was previously a non-executive board member of East Coast Energy (now Orca Exploration) and was a founder of Dominion.
Bradley Mervis, Head of Corporate Finance
Bradley is a financial specialist and chartered accountant with more than seven years' experience in FTSE 250 exploration companies. He worked for Burren Energy until it was taken over by ENI as Corporate Finance Manager and before this, as their Group Management Accountant. Before this, Bradley worked for three years at Grant Thornton.
David Garland, General Counsel
David Garland is a barrister with over 18 years' experience of corporate matters and commercial contracts and disputes, including aspects of oil and gas, banking and security, company and insolvency (including corporate governance), insurance, international trade and employment. He was previously a member of Brick Court Chambers, the pre-eminent commercial chambers in England, where his practice included a number of significant commercial disputes, including the dispute between Esso and Shell and British Gas (over a long-term gas supply agreement), the Marubeni case (relating to construction of performance bonds) and the litigation arising from the collapse of Barings Bank.
Jonathan Henry, Group Financial Controller
Jonathan is a Chartered Accountant with over sixteen years' experience in the oil and gas industry. He worked for Burlington Resources on their upstream assets in Europe and North Africa and, on their acquisition by Conoco Phillips in 2006, became Finance Supervisor for their African business unit. Prior to this, Jonathan worked for Louisiana Land and Exploration Company. He aslo spent three years in New Zealand working for the University of Auckland.
Anthony Knaggs, General Manager, Dominion Uganda Limited
Anthony Knaggs has over thirty years' experience in shipping and logistics, and he has lived in Uganda for twenty years. He ran an international logistics NGO with bases in southern Sudan. He also established a transport company in Uganda which was involved in constructing roads in Southern Sudan and oil storage tanks for the petroleum industry in Uganda.
