In a special report on Africa oil and gas the Financial Times describes Africa as the continent all set to balance power. The report quotes calculations from HIS Energy that Africa will supply 30% of the world’s liquid hydrocarbon production growth by 2010. As a result the FT sees the continent as the subject of fierce competition between energy companies from as far away as Europe and America.
